Creating
Image URLs in the ImgURL field on the Optional Tab Using Hit Lists
If you have images
scanned in with BookTrakker RecCode numbers and you want to create an
ImgURL that points to the image on a hosting site follow these instructions
exactly.
BACKUP YOUR DATABASE!!!!
1. Create your Hit List. Since images are stored directly on the hard
drive there is no practical
way to do a Hit list on which records have images unless you specified
that in a specific field.
But assuming you have such a Hit List, do the following:
2. Do an Action to Copy From: RecCode; Copy to: Field 2 or one of the
optional fields.
3. Do an Action to Prepend your Image URL Prefix to the RecCode in field
2. A Prefix URL is
something like http://www.yourhostingsite.com/folder/
Prepend To: Field 2. Prepend Text: (prefix URL)
4. Click the Find button at the top. Change Search to Field 2. Find
Text: “/ “ without the quotes.
Forward Slash Space.
Make sure How To Find is set to Any Part of Field.
5. Below, in the Replace field type a “/” without the quotes.
(Slash)
6. Click Find. Click Replace All. Repeat. (It doesn’t always work the
first time. If you get No
Matching Records then it did work.)
7. Do another Action, this time an Append, Append To: Field 2, Append
Text: “.jpg” without
the quotes.
8. Do another Find. Search: Field 2, Find “ .” without the quotes. Space
Period. Make sure
How To Find is set to Any Part of Field.
9. Below, in the Replace field type a “.” without the quotes. (Period)
10. Click Find. Click Replace All. Repeat. (It doesn’t always work the first
time. If you get
No Matching Records then it did work.)
11. Do another Action. Copy. Copy From: Field 2, Copy To: ImgURL
12. Make sure in File > Export > UIEE > Map Export Fields you have
near the bottom
Image_URL|ImgURL. If not present then click on the empty field to the right of
the *, click
the dropdown buttons, and add it in, both
sides. X to close both forms.
Changes are saved automatically.
