Amazon Data Entry (New Record Mode) and Setup for Initial Upload from Previous Data

Amazon Canada or United Kingdom Booksellers
Using Hit Lists to Set Amazon Fields
Condition is the Amazon condition used on Marketplace only, whether it be Amazon.com, Amazon.ca o Amazon.co.uk.  The list of choices is as follows:

1 = Used; Like New
2 = Used; Very Good (default)
3 = Used; Good
4 = Used; Acceptable
5 = Collectible; Like New
6 = Collectible; Very Good
7 = Collectible; Good
8 = Collectible; Acceptable
11 = New

BookTrakker will match these conditions automatically based on using the Book field on the main data entry form. As you select from the Book field one of the choices, BookTrakker will set Condition on the Amazon tab according to the following equivalence table:

AN, F+, F, NF = Used; Like New
VG+, VG, VG- = Used; Very Good
G+, G = Used; Good
Fair, P = Used; Acceptable
If you want to use any other selection then you need to manually change the choice to what you want. There is no capability within BookTrakker to distinguish between Used or Collectible during data entry, the default is Used, unless you select New for the book, in which case New is selected on the Amazon tab. You have to change the dropdown manually for Collectible.
Marketplace - Must be checked for all Amazon.com uploads.  If you type or scan in an ISBN into the ISBN or an ASIN in the ASIN field on the Keywords tab in New Record mode then Marketplace will be checked automatically upon leaving the field. You can uncheck it if you want to use the ISBN field for other services but not as an Amazon listing. Or, if you have both an ISBN and an ASIN then use both, BookTrakker will upload the ISBN to other services and the ASIN to Amazon. Canadian and UK dealers need to set their shipping choices
Expedite - Amazon.com only - Tells BookTrakker to upload this record as "Expedited shipping available" for Amazon.com only. You can set defaults for Expedite in Tools > Options > Records in the middle of the form.
International - Amazon.com only - Tells BookTrakker to upload this record as "International shipping available" for Amazon.com only. You can set defaults for International in Tools > Options > Records in the middle of the form.
For booksellers in Canada (CA) or the United Kingdom (UK) there are a new set of shipping choices:
You must have Marketplace checked for the record to be uploaded to Amazon Canada or the UK if you are using version 3.4.885. (Not required in version 3.4.925 or .930) You MUST be a seller listing on Amazon.ca or Amazon.co.uk to use the shipping options for CA or the UK. These settings DO NOT apply to Amazon.com
 (USA) sellers.

No CA: Do not upload this record to Amazon.ca
CA Only: Shipping within Canada only
CA, US: Shipping within Canada and to the United States
Any Amz: Worldwide shipping, all countries Amazon.ca allows shipping to

No UK: Do not upload this record to Amazon.co.uk
UK Only: Shipping within the UK only.
UK, EU Only: Shipping within the UK as well as the European Union
UK, EU, US: Shipping within the UK as well as to the European Union and the United States.
Any Amz: Worldwide shipping, all countries Amazon.co.uk allows shipping to.

You can set defaults for Amazon CA and UK in Tools > Options > Records in the middle of the form.:

Item Note - Used for the Comments field on Marketplace. Limited to 200 characters in BookTrakker 3.1, and 1000 characters in 3.2 and later versions. It will not allow you to enter more than 200 characters in 3.1, even though the field appearance may be larger.   NOTE: If Item Note is used then BookTrakker will get the data for Seller Comments in the upload file from this field. This field will allow you to use one description for Marketplace listings and a different description for the other services.   Leave it empty and BookTrakker will use your Marketplace Field Mapping choices for creating Seller's Comments on Amazon.
Using Hit Lists to Set Amazon Fields - You can use Hit Lists to change the Amazon fields globally. This is especially useful if you have imported data from another source before starting with data entry using BookTrakker.
A. Setting records for listing on Marketplace, and/or Expedite and/or International.
Click the Hit Lists tab, left side of screen. Click New. Click OK. Under Search Field heading click on the dropdown button, select Status. (Over on the right, under Search Criteria, the field will default to Available) Click again in the field below Status, select ISBN. Place a check in the check box under Not, just to the right of the ISBN selection. Leave the next field blank, under Search Criteria. Change the Search Type (next field) to Entire Field. Your Hit List setup should look like this:
Clicking the Execute button will create a Hit List of all Available records where there is an ISBN in the ISBN field on the Keywords tab. Check your results in List View. If they look correct, then click the Hit Lists tab on the left, then click on the Action tab, upper right. On the left side you will see a frame labeled Action. In the lower right corner of this frame you will see Amazon. Click this. Over on the right, below the Action tab label, you will see a dropdown list with Amazon above and Yes below. Click the dropdown, select Marketplace. Place a check in the Yes check box. Your Action Hit List setup should look like this:
Click the Execute button. You will see a message asking you if you want to run this Action Query, and that it will change XXX records. Click Yes to confirm, No to cancel. If you click Yes then all records with an ISBN will be set for listing on Marketplace. You can repeat the Action Hit List for Expedite and International, assuming you want all your records listed as such. Select Expedite or International from the same Amazon dropdown list, upper right, under the Action tab.
B. Setting records for shipping for Canada or the UK:

Click on Amazon on the left.
Select Amz UK Ship or Amz CA Ship from the dropdown list, upper right. Amazon must be selected on the left. In the Values frame below, click the dropdown to select which shipping method you want:
Repeat as necessary for each class of books you want to set shipping for. Because of expensive international rates you may want to qualify books based on Size, if you use this field in Inventory.
C. Setting records for Amazon Condition.

This can be more complicated, especially if you have DJ information. Ignoring DJ information, which can be included in the Comments on Marketplace, you will do a series of Hit Lists based on Book. These instructions assume you follow Amazon's convention of assigning condition as described above in Condition.

If you understand how Hit Lists work then you can do compound Hit Lists based on both Book and DJ to optimize the Amazon Condition settings. Obviously a VG Book with a Poor DJ is not really Used - Very Good.
1. Used; Like New
Click on the Hit Lists tab, left side. Click New. Click OK. Select Marketplace under Search Field. Search Criteria defaults to Yes. Under Marketplace click into the blank field and select Book. Over on the right, under Search Criteria, click into the field for the dropdown button to appear, click the dropdown button and select NF. Then, on the right, under Search Type, select At Least from the dropdown list. Your setup should look like this:
Click the Execute button. Next, click the Hit Lists tab on the left, then the Action tab, upper right. Click on Change, in the Action frame on the left side. Then select Condition from the Change dropdown list, and Used; Like New from the Change To field. Your setup should look like this:
Click Execute, confirm the changes. You can also set them to Collectible - Like New using the same process, providing they qualify under Amazon's guidelines for Collectible.
2. Used; Very Good Click on the Hit Lists tab, left side. Click New. Click OK. Select Marketplace under Search Field. Search Criteria defaults to Yes. Under Marketplace click into the blank field and select Book. Over on the right, under Search Criteria, click into the field for the dropdown button to appear, click the dropdown button and select VG+. Over on the right, select Less than or equal to. Click under Search Field, new row, select Book again from the dropdown list, then VG- under Search Criteria, then At Least under Search Type. Your setup should look like this:
Click Execute. You will end up with a list of all books where Book is VG+, VG or VG-. Next, click the Hit Lists tab on the left, then the Action tab, upper right. Click on Change, in the Action frame on the left side. Then select Condition from the Change dropdown list, and Used; Very Good from the Change To field.  Click Execute, Confirm. You can also set them to Collectible - Very Good using the same process, providing they qualify under Amazon's guidelines for Collectible.
3. Used; Good. Repeat as above, except G+ = Less than or equal to, and G = At Least. Then select Condition from the Change dropdown list, and Used; Good from the Change To field.  Click Execute, Confirm. You can also set them to Collectible - Good using the same process, providing they qualify under Amazon's guidelines for Collectible.
4. Used; Acceptable. Repeat as above. except you select Fair, Less than or Equal to. Then select Condition from the Change dropdown list, and Used; Acceptable from the Change To field.  Click Execute, Confirm. You can also set them to Collectible - Acceptable using the same process, providing they qualify under Amazon's guidelines for Collectible.
5. New . Similar to above, except you set the Hit List to search on New, Equal to. Then select Condition from the Change dropdown list, and New from the Change To field.  Click Execute, Confirm.
