GrabIt! for BookTrakker - AMZ OLR

AMZ OLR Tab. For updating the Amazon Open Listings Report data in BookTrakker.
Download Weight Only
Before you can use GrabIt for updating the Amazon Open Listings Report after importing into BookTrakker you first have to download 10 digit ISBN's from Amazon into your data. (Amazon for unknown reasons uses 13 digit ISBN's in the OLR. Amazon's API cannot process 13 digit ISBN's)

You have to have an Amazon service entry in BookTrakker as well as the MWS Registration in App Manager for any of these operations to work. If you have not previously done this then please do Step 21 on this page:

http://www.booktrakker.com/WebsiteApp_Manager_Instructions.htm

Once you have the Amazon service entry and have done the MWS Registration do the following:

Click Online in BookTrakker. Click the dropdown for the Plugins button, select CheckIt. Click the Request Report button. This will send a request to Amazon for an OLR Lite report containing ASIN's and ISBN's to replace what you got from the larger OLR file you just imported. Should take 30 minutes or less for Amazon to create the file.

When the file is ready (You may get an email from Amazon) click Download Report. After the Report is downloaded, check the ISBN check box under Option, then click the Update ASINs button. This will replace your 13 digit ISBN's with 10 digit. Once this is done you can close CheckIt and move onto the next step:

The Amazon OLR tab is designed to clean up data imported from the Amazon Open Listing Report (OLR). It can also be used to clean up older data where the user did not populate all the fields and would like to do so now, to the extent that Amazon.com has the available data. If you are using it for older data that has the Cover field already then you will need to create a Cover specific Hit List for each Cover selection on the BookTrakker tab in GrabIt!.

You can also download Image URL's and/or Weight from Amazon when they are available, either during the initial OLR update or later. Download Image URL is for when you have imported your listings from Amazon and need to update the data. Checking Download Image URL will get image URL's from Amazon when they are available. CAVEAT: Amazon now only makes available thumbnail sized images which may not be useful.

Download Weight can be used to download Weight from Amazon for existing records in BookTrakker.

Download Image URL ONLY is for current users who want to get whatever images may be available for current records in BookTrakker. To avoid overwriting existing Image URL's in BookTrakker you will want to do a Named Hit List to exclude them:

Note that Not is checked for the http search in ImgURL. Use this Hit List on the Amazon OLR tab with Download Image URL ONLY checked to download image URL's from Amazon.

To Download Weight from Amazon first you have to find records that have no Weight or where Weight is blank:

Name the Hit List as Weight, then check Download Weight Only on the AMZ OLR form in GrabIt, select the Hit List, then click the Amazon OLR update button to download the Weight from Amazon into BookTrakker.

For new users who get their data from the Amazon Open Listing Report:

After you import the OLR and have restarted BookTrakker, notice that Cover is missing, Title/Subtitle is a mixture of Author/Title and sometimes Cover. Running this data against the Amazon database using GrabIt!ís Amazon OLR function will clean this up, as well as add in extra data, such as Publisher, Date and/or Pages, if available. Doing this process will not affect data in the Item-Note field or your Amazon Condition. This operation only works with Marketplace data, zShops listings cannot be updated. If there is no ASIN in the BookTrakker ISBN field, then the record will not be processed.

Because of glitches in the Amazon OLR function you may have to run the process twice, to get all possible records cleaned up, with available author information.

Start out by opening BookTrakker. Click on the Hit Lists tab, left side. Click the New button, fill in a Name (000), then click OK. Click into the field under Search Field, select Status. Your Hit List should look like this:

Click the Execute button next to the New button to run the Hit List. Confirm that the record count is as you expect, it will display at the bottom of the List View. If the count is correct, click the red Hit List button at the top of BookTrakker.

Open GrabIt!. Before running the Amazon OLR update, you need to click on the Settings tab and type in your Amazon email address in the Amazon Email field at the bottom. If you are an Amazon.co.uk user then you also need to check the "Use Amazon UK" checkbox so you are updating against the correct database.

For the Amazon OLR update, we have set a default Template that sets all of the criteria for updating Amazon Open Listing Report records after they have been imported into BookTrakker. Click the Amazon OLR tab, then select the Amazon OLR Template from the dropdown list:

Default settings can be found on the BookTrakker and Formatting tabs.

If the defaults are not set correctly, or you want to change them, then do the following:

Click the BookTrakker tab. Click the dropdown button for Cover, select Amazon Binding if your Cover field in BookTrakker is empty. If you want Size from Amazon, place a check in the Export Size box. Click Set for Upload

Next, click the Formatting tab and decide how you want your data formatted. See the Formatting tab instructions for a description of what this does. After setting Formatting, click the Amazon OLR tab.

Select your Hit List. Click the Amazon OLR Update button. A message will appear, stating how many records were retrieved from BookTrakker to update:

Click OK. Wait for the process to finish, it may take awhile. (20-40 records a minute, depending on your connection) When it is done, a message will appear. Click OK. Data will be written to BookTrakker.
Create and run another Hit List in BookTrakker to determine if any records did not update the first time.

Click on the Hit Lists tab, left side. Click the New button, fill in a Name (001), then click OK. Click into the field under Search Field, select Status. Under Status, click into the field and select Marketplace. Click into the field under Marketplace and select Author. Then click over to the right, under Search type, in the same row as Author, and select Entire Field. Do not click in the blank area under Search Criteria for Author, if you do so you will have to redo the setup for this Hit List. Your Hit List should look like this:

Click the Execute button next to the New button to run the Hit List. Note the number of results. Click the red Hit List button at the top of BookTrakker, then return to the Amz OLR tab in GrabIt! and select the new Hit List from the Hit List dropdown list.
Click the Amazon OLR Update button. A message will appear, stating how many records were retrieved from BookTrakker to update.
Click OK. Wait for the process to finish, it may take awhile. (20-40 records a minute, depending on your connection) When it is done, a message will appear. Click OK. Data will be written to BookTrakker.
By the second run all possible authors should be retrieved, what will be left are records where there is no author available on Amazon.
