BookTrakker v3.4
Installation
Instructions for New Users and for Current Users of V3.3, V3.2, and
V3.1
*Additional
Instructions appear at end for Current V3* users.

We
would like to extend a hearty
welcome to you as you begin your
installation of BookTrakker V3.4,
and would like to take a moment to
remind you that we are available if
you have any questions, or run into
any problems with the program.
Likewise, our developers are always
open to suggestions or constructive
criticism on how we can improve the
program.
Now,
let's begin the Installation:
First, close
all programs on your computer
especially
virus-checking software. Some of the
anti-virus programs look for certain
types of behavior patterns instead
of specific virus codes. Remember to
turn the anti-virus program back on
when installation is complete.
(It's okay to leave this website
open.)
*(new
info) ZoneAlarm's
most recent update is compatible with BookTrakker and does not
need to be turned off during download. Older versions of
ZoneAlarm are not compatible and need to be turned off before
installation then turned on again when installation is complete.
*Spyware
Doctor and Avast are not compatible with BookTrakker and must be
uninstalled and removed from your computer before installing
BookTrakker. Do not reinstall Spyware Doctor or Avast.
Next,
locate the BT34Setup.exe file placed
on your computer when you downloaded v3.4. If you cannot find the
BT34Setup.exe file, open Windows
Explorer or your File Manager, click
Start > Search >
Files or folders and type in BT34Setup.exe and click Search.
Double-click
on the
BT34Setup.exe file to open the
InstallShield Wizard and initiate
installation.
The first image you will see is:

Next, if you do not have .NET
Framework 2.0 installed then this form will appear: |

|
 |
|
|
|
Then it will ask if you want to run
this software: |
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
Click Run. The software will be
downloaded. |

|
|
 |
|
|
|
Another form appears asking if you
want to run this software: |

|
|
 |
|
|
|
Click Run. The installation form for
.NET Framwork configuration will appear: |
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
This process could take awhile. Five
to twenty minutes, depending on your computer. All you can do is
wait.... |
|
|
|
|
When the installation of .NET
Framework is finished a form appears: Preparing to install, then:

|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Next:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Next:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Read the license agreement. Click where it says "I
accept" if you accept, otherwise click Cancel to cancel the
installation. If you accept the license, then:

 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Next, which opens ReadMe
Information containing updated
Release Notes for Version 3.4 as well as for previous versions.

|

|
|
|
|
|
|
The Release notes detail new features in BookTrakker Version
3.4. Please read, then click Next. You can copy them if you like.
Click Next, to get:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Decide who has access to this program, then click Next. For most
users you want to leave it at the default. Click Next, to get:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Again, leave this at the default, unless you have a partitioned
drive, and want to use a different drive letter. If you want
BookTrakker installed in Program Files then you should change the
installation to there, by clicking on the Change button.
WARNING:
Installing in Program Files will make it very difficult for us to
provide support if something breaks or stops working.
You must use the Folder supplied
with the program, BTPro, no matter where else you install it. So
if you want it in Program Files, then make sure the path reads
C:\Program Files\BTPro. Do not
attempt to install a second copy of the program elsewhere. You can
only have one copy running on your computer. Installing in another
location will cause numerous errors.
If you do not have a C Drive on
your computer then please contact support at support@booktrakker.com
Click Next, to get:

|
|
Decide if you are installing on your only computer or a
satellite machine. If you only have one computer then click Next.
If this is the server computer for a network then click Next. Only
select Network Client if you are installing on a satellite
computer on a Network. Click Next, to get: |

|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Install:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wait.........
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Finish:
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click Yes to restart your computer. Your computer MUST be
restarted for BookTrakker to work properly. Failure to restart
after installation could cause problems with BookTrakker
operation.
After restarting your computer look for the BookTrakker icon on
your desktop and double-click to run the program:

|
New Users: BookTrakker is now installed and operational.
*Additional
Instructions for Current
Users of V3.3, V3.2, and V3.1:
After installation, run BookTrakker, click the
Online button, then do File > Upload Error Log.
Email us at support@booktrakker.com
that you have done this. If there is a problem with
the update the Error log will tell us what it is. You
should wait to hear back from us before doing anything
with BookTrakker 3.4. |
